the end of the week
Last week was the week from hell. I am hard pressed to find much good out of it. Those weeks are the hardest. However, it did end on a positive note. Thank goodness. I am not sure I would have gotten out of bed this morning if it hadn't. I got to go to my first hockey game on Sunday evening. The Detroit Redwings played the Colorado Avalanche and of course, won. I have never been to a hockey in any capacity and all that I know about hockey I learned from the Mighty Duck movies. I am not afraid to admit that. I am now a fan. It was a lot of fun and on top of that, it was free! My cousin-in-law gets work tickets from some sort of connection. Plus he bought the cotton candy. My sweet ending to a very sour week. Go Detroit!
TP, tests, and a very long weekend
It was a long and busy weekend. What I should be doing is sleeping right now. Instead I am typing. So someone decided to toilet paper our street on Friday night. When I was in high school it was fun to toilet paper someone's house as a prank. Not the street. I mean all of the trees down the street are toilet papered. I am not sure who was targeted.
I had to take 3 Michigan teacher certification tests on Saturday. An hour drive from the house and the tests from 7:30am-6pm the longest day ever. I did get to hang out in a Caribou Coffee shop on my break-the only highlight! One test had a lot of Michigan history questions on it. As if I knew anything about Michigan history. Mind you, I registered for these tests just a week in advance so my study time was very insignificant. As in none. 2 more tests to go in April. I need to pass to keep my job.
Saturday evening was a large surprise 60th party for my aunt. Tons of family and strangers. Great food and drinks. That lasted until after midnight also. Then today was my cousin's christening. Again a big family gathering lasting all day. Matt and I got home just in time for a little dinner before watching the premier of 24. Jack Bauer is amazing of course. But seriously Jack is going to get old someday. He can't chase down terrorists with a walker.
I can't move, I am a wimp
I was at the doctor's office on Thursday and she decided that it was time for me to get a tetanus shot and a pertussis booster. A shot in the arm. I went with the left arm thinking that would be best since I write right handed. Then I was getting labs drawn and also went with the left arm. Now I can't move my arm. The shot itself did not hurt at all. Little did I know how much it would hurt later. And since I am a side sleeper on the left, my neck and right shoulder are hurting because I slept wrong. Now I can't lift my right arm or move my head at all. To top that off, Matt decided to share his cold with me. So I feel like...... The price to pay for health I guess. It's okay, you can call me a wimp.
2007
2007 means that I have almost been in MI for a year. I have a hard time believing that. This last year has gone very fast and at the same time it was painfully slow. While I was out ringing in 2007 I was thinking about all of the past years that we rang in the new year in ID. Our "parties" at someone's house. Some years we had a blast, other years we just got together because it was New Year's. Remember the year that we played outside in the snow and had to watch the ball drop on Pacific time because we missed it at midnight Mountain Time? Or dancing the night away at Em and Jeff's reception and then eating leftover spinach dip back at the house and falling asleep on the couch? Or last year when I knew I was moving and it was kind of a time for me to see people for the last time? I had fun going out this year. It just wasn't the same. I celebrated New Year amidst a lot of strangers rather than just among close friends. Different. Interesting. But it made me think.
