the rain
The rain here is amazing. It rained all day today. First I woke up about 6am to a very loud thunderstorm. I really like thunderstorms. However, they aren't fun to drive on the interstate in. They aren't fun to listen to with a classroom full of kids at school. They aren't fun when there is a question of whether the power will stay on. As I sit here now at 11pm, it is still raining. Sheets and buckets and cats and dogs. I love the sounds. The air outside is so thick and heavy too with all of the humidity. Everywhere your skin touches skin is sticky. But the smell is absolutely amazing. It smells like fresh dirt and grass and plants and water. Plus everything is so green. Spring here is so pretty and smells like nothing else. I wish I could bottle it and keep if for those nasty days in the winter when you can't even go outside because it is too cold. You should come visit Michigan in the spring!
