one last rush
Monday starts my last week of school. I really can't believe it is almost over already. We had our fun family activites earlier this week with a field trip to the zoo in Lansing and the kindergarten picnic. The parents organized the picnic for all 4 kindergarten classes in the building. Those are my favorite parties, the ones I don't have to plan or prepare. All of the parents gave me a substanial gift card to Target. I really do have a great group of parents. Now I have to finish assessments, report cards, and packing up my room. The building needs to be emptied on the last day of school (a day we still have kids) so that renovations can start right away. I will be in working this weekend trying to get some of that done since my report cards are not finished either. Those were actually supposed to be done today, but it didn't happen. That is my exciting weekend, report cards and packing. I am overwhelmed. I can tell when I am stressed because I get sick. Last week it was the flu and this week it is strep. Of course your body shuts down just when you need it to do more. I am having a hard time with the packing because next year I will be at a different school. I am moving over to another elementary to teach cognitively impaired kids as well as learning disabled kids. So I am leaving a school, a principal, and a staff that I really love to start over with a new building, principal, staff and Job! It is rough to start over again. I feel like all I do is start over. I may have to start over again after the next year too because of changing numbers and positions at the schools. Everyone asks if special ed is what I wanted to do. I can't really answer that question. Right now I don't know what I don't want to do. I guess I need to figure that out first.
